This summer SAIC was host to a unique public event at SAIC called Cosmic Images: Beyond Beauty that was part of the Great Lakes Cosmology Workshop 2010 and co-sponsored by the Kavli Institute for Cosmological Physics and Adler Planetarium.Physics professor Kathryn Schaffer organized this panel discussion by on the nature and meaning of images in astrophysics. The event also included the work of SAIC astronomy students and their interpretations and commentary on the various forms of visuality as well as scientific information within these often stunning images.
